The fittings that come with those usually are 1/2" threaded male but have 3/8" female tread inside. Dope the iron pipe connections but neither end of the flared. Flared connections do not need dope.

I also use a bit of pipe lub on the flare fitting, not much, just enough to see. Too much can get into the piping & cause problems. I cannot tell you how much to wrench past hand-tight.
