WebFollowing the discovery of a single specimen of M. spicatum in the Saint John River, near Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada) we further investigated the localized distribution of this non- indigenous species. Thirteen areas were identified as potential M. spicatum habitat and were surveyed by wading or snorkeling. WebThe specimen measured 6 × 4 × 2 cm and was a skin-covered fibrofatty tissue. The overlying nipple showed retraction, and the areola appeared firm on palpation. On slicing, there was an ill-defined grey-white lesion in the retroareolar region measuring 2 × 2 × 1 cm.
